Sarvarakṣā Nyāsa

Siddhikapalini Guhyakali

The use of Rakṣā nyāsa before various rituals is a well-regarded practice in Tantra. There are fourteen rakṣā nyāsas taught from the perspective of śrīvidyā in Baḍabānala Tantra; Paśurāma Kalpasūtra teaches one, and Trikūṭārahasya teaches three.

Those initiated into the depths of ūrdhvāmnāya Krama and into the secrets of the worship of dual Goddesses Mahatripurasundarī and Mahāguhyakālī are to adopt the śrīvidyā nyāsas in the morning and the below Sarvarakṣā nyāsa during the night. The nyāsa is to be performed by prefixing pañcatāra of Mahāsiddhikarālī along with Prāsāda, Parā, Parāprāsāda and Prāsādaparā, in a specific order determined by the aṣṭāṅga of the day. These bījas are then followed by the respective mūlamantras of the deities listed below, concluded with the triṃśadakṣarī mahāvidyā of Siddhikarālī. This peculiarity of using the entire mūlavidyā in every nyāsa-pāda is also supported by Mahākāla Samhitā (mantrarājena rañjitam).

One who performs such a nyāsa night after night with the notion of complete oneness with the raśmis of Paradevatā is freed from afflictions of the body and mind and attains Her liberating grace, having attained various Siddhis on the way. The practice is preceded by 36 typical prāṇāyāmas using the vadhū, dhūtarī and yoginī bījas.
