Srī Shāntānanda Sarasvatī

Shantananda Sarasvati of Pudukkottai

शान्तानन्दकृतानन्दरूपिणि चित्स्वरूपिणि ।
भुवनेशि नमस्तुभ्यं ललितेति मया स्तुता ॥

H H Srī Shāntānanda Sarasvatī was a great Avadhūta who was a treasure trove of Mantraśāstra. In his infinite grace, he blessed me with the Mahāmantras of Siddha Bhuvanēśvarī and Skanda, which acted as catalysts for achieving the grace of Mūladēvatā. HH also provided valuable guidance in the upāsanā of Ucciṣṭa Mahāgaṇapati and Sharabhēśvara. Our sāṣṭāṅga praṇati to his lotus feet.

pāśāṅkuśau ca varadābhayapāṇipadmāṁ
pītāmbarīṁ kanakabhūṣaṇabhūṣitāṅgīm |
śrīṣōḍaśākṣarakalāvr̥tapadmavāsīṁ
ēkākṣarīṁ tribhuvanāṁ hr̥di bhāvayāmi ||

He also drilled deep into us the importance of upāsanā of Bhuvaneśvarī, the adhiṣṭhātrī of Pūrvāmnāya and of Svādhiṣṭhāna Chakra, in the form of six mahāvidyās – Unmanī, Pūrṇēśvarī, Bhuvanā, Bhuvanēśvarī, Mahābhuvanēśvarī, and Tribhuvanasundarī. Both the single as well as the five lettered mantras of this Mahāvidyā can be divided into sixteen parts – indicating the fact that the ṣōḍaśākṣarī mantra is present within this bīja, just as a tree hidden within the seed (बीजस्यान्तरिवाङ्कुरो).
