Kshetrapala Bali

Generally, prior to an elaborate prayōga of any kind, one offers Bali to catuḥṣaṣṭi Yōginī and Bhairavas. As a part of this procedure, one also offers Bali to the Kṣētrapālaka and his fifty Mātr̥kā chakra emanations. The Bali is to be offered to fifty Kṣētrapalas along with their respective śaktis:

Ajara, āpakumbha, iḍārambha, indramūrti, ulkāsya, ūṣmāda, r̥pusūdana, r̥mukta, lr̥ptakāya, lr̥pāda, ēkadaṁṣṭra, airāvata, ōdyāmbu, auṣadhīśa, antavāhaka, astaka, arthavāhaka, kamala, kharānana, gōmukha, ghaṇṭāla, ṅṇama, candradhāraka, chaṭātōpa, jaṭāla, jhaṅkāra, ñmaṭēśvara, ṭaṅkapāṇi, ṭhāṇḍabandha, ḍāmara, ḍhēḍhakarṇa, ṇavīkānta, tantrījihva, thāvira, dantura, dhanada, nāgakarṇa, prachaṇḍa, phētkāra, balāka, bhrukuṭi, mēghabhāsura, yugāntaka, raurava, lambōṣṭha, vasantaka, śukamuṇḍa, ṣaḍālāsya, sumana, hūnaka and kṣapāntaka.

In addition, Kṣētrapālas who guard special and sacred places (as also important chakras or kṣētras within the microcosmic body) are to be propitiated through Baliharaṇa: huṅkāra, bhayāvaha, ghōra, jvālāmukha, biḍālavadana, ghaṇṭārāva, jarāmara, bhūridhāraugha, māruta, maṇibhadra, dhanādhyakṣa, krōṣṭaka, śambara, and makara.

Together, they constitute the sixty-four Kṣētrapālakas. After an elaborate baliharaṇa, one can invoke the Kṣētrapala within a vaṭu to seek answers to questions. However, such prayōgas should not be attempted by one who is not a mantra-siddha.
